A home inspector ditty of the day (now please I am not a poet).

Well with such a nice little ditty you have to wonder.  Here we have a not so uncommon issue with pet owners. They want to give little Fido or Felix a way to get in and out. The garage is such a nice place to go for our four legged friends.

The problem is that the fire separation to your home has now just been compromised.

Home/garage fire separation is a pretty important safety feature. Door openings between the garage and the home need to be solid wood doors not less than 1-3/8 inches in thickness, solid or honeycomb core steel doors not less than 1-3/8 inches thick, or 20-minute fire rated door.

I do not think the doggy door passes this test.

So before you think of the four legged ones think of the two legged ones.
