Leavenworth, Wenatchee and Chelan Home Inspection- Cluster Flies
During a home inspection you may come across many different things during an inspection. Here is a group of cluster flies.
These are larger, slow moving flies, sometimes referred to as "attic flies". They usually appear on warm, sunny days during early spring and autumn. They gather in large numbers, especially at windows and in rooms not frequently used.
They are slightly larger than you normal house fly. They will not damage your home but can be a bit of a nuisance. They are thought to have originated in Europe.
The best method to keep cluster flies from entering homes and buildings is to seal any cracks around windows, doors, siding, utility pipes, behind chimneys, and underneath the fascia. The openings should be sealed with good quality caulk. Replacing damaged screens on doors and windows will also help.
Remember that these practices should be employed to keep other pest out also such as yellow jackets and rodents.
