How to take a 50 year roof and make it a one year roof! Chelan Home Inspection Service

One of the saddest things to see is when someone takes a very good material and basically destroys it with the installation.

On a recent Wenatchee Home Inspection I come up to the home and see they have heavy architectural grade shingle installed. From the ground I could see some signs of potential issues but when I got on the roof the true story became apparent.

The roofers had over driven the nails (shot through the roofing material) and the roof was coming apart.  This is why some will insist on hand nailing versus using nail guns.

At the ridge I guess they could not afford any more ridge singles so they used field shingles. Hmm really!

In another area they installed the field shingles so they buckled.

I really think “Uncle Bob” could handle this better.

One major point to remember if you have a roof installed if you expect to have any warranty for defects the roof has to be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's specification. When hiring a contractor a warranty for the installation should be in hand.

Well we can safely say the warranty on this roof is null and void.
